A 5mm laser-cut mild steel grill, designed and manufactured in Australia to suit every fire pit we've ever made — past and present. The cut grill bars give you direct-flame contact and let the fat drip where it should — steaks, sausages, chops, and anything that wants a proper char.

Mounts on the cooking set's centre rod and swings in over the coals or back out to serve, and clamps up or down to match the fire.
 

What it does well
 

• Direct-flame char. Laser-cut bars put the food over the heat with the grill marks and flavour that comes with it.
• Real thermal mass. At 5mm thick the bars hold their heat for a proper sear instead of cooling the moment food lands.
• Seasons like cast iron. Australian mild steel builds a slick, non-stick patina that only improves with use — the reason we chose it over stainless, which sticks and never seasons.
• Swings and lifts. Pivots in over the heat and back out again, and sets to the height the fire's asking for.

Australian mild steel, 5mm thick. We tried stainless for our cooking surfaces and rejected it — food sticks and it never develops the seasoning that makes outdoor cooking easy. Mild steel, seasoned once and looked after, cooks beautifully for decades.
 

Looking after it: season before first use, wipe with oil after each cook, no dishwasher, don't scrub the seasoning off.

We're a small Australian manufacturer based in Somersby, NSW. We make things out of steel because steel, done properly, outlives almost everything else in a garden or a home.
 

This cooking set came from using our own fire pits and wanting to do more with them. So we built the surfaces we actually wanted to cook on — and chose the materials by what works over the fire, not what's cheapest or flashiest to list.
