3mm Galvanised Tree Rings
The same build. A modern silver finish that won't patina.
For gardens where rusty doesn't fit — contemporary homes, minimalist landscaping, or anywhere you want the strength of steel without the weathered look — we roll the same tree ring in zinc-galvanised Bluescope steel.
Made the same way
Rolled in-house at our Somersby factory from 3mm Bluescope galvanised steel. The same proprietary bracket system is welded low inside the ring, hidden by your mulch once installed. Your ring arrives in one piece with a single split — open it, place it around your tree, and pull it closed with the 316 marine-grade stainless hardware we include.
The join is invisible from the outside. No staples, no exposed screws, no panelled look.
The finish
Your ring arrives bright silver. Over the first year outdoors it gradually dulls to a soft matte — structural, not shiny. Zinc galvanising is the strongest rust protection you can put on outdoor steel; it's the same coating used on highway guardrails and marine fittings for decades of outdoor life.
If you want colour, this finish also takes paint beautifully — some customers use it as a base for custom colour-matching to their garden palette.
What arrives at your door
- One pre-rolled, pre-welded 3mm galvanised ring
- 316 marine-grade stainless steel hardware
- No construction. No tools required. Open, place, bolt, backfill — done.
1520mm rings ship in two pieces for safe handling. Both joins are equally invisible once installed and backfilled.
Why 3mm matters
Thinner rings (1.5–2mm, common in the market) deform under mulch pressure and lose their round over time. 3mm holds its shape permanently, sits heavily enough to stay put, and lasts for decades.
Australian made, start to finish
Australian Bluescope steel, rolled and welded by our team at Somersby, NSW.
Material
Material — BlueScope GALVABOND® Galvanised Steel
Our tree rings are manufactured from 3mm BlueScope GALVABOND® — Australia's premium galvanised steel, trusted across rural fencing, industrial framing, and infrastructure projects that have to stand up to Australian weather for decades.
Unlike painted steel that starts rusting the moment the coating is scratched, GALVABOND® is protected by a metallurgically-bonded zinc layer that works on a fundamentally different principle. The zinc sacrifices itself to shield the steel underneath — and even if the surface is scratched or damaged, the surrounding zinc continues to protect the exposed steel beneath it. No painting. No flaking. No maintenance. The zinc is the protection.
The finish arrives bright silver — crisp, clean, almost architectural — then dulls over the first year outdoors into a soft matte grey. That dulling isn't wear; it's the zinc stabilising into the protective oxide layer that will see the ring through decades without peeling, flaking, or needing a single coat of paint.
For contemporary homes, modern landscaping, or any garden where the rusty Corten look isn't the right fit, this is the finish. And if you ever want colour, GALVABOND® also takes paint exceptionally well once weathered in — a quality base for matching your ring to a specific palette or design scheme.
Strength At 3mm thick, these rings carry a weight and rigidity you can feel the moment you lift one. Compared to the 1.6mm galvanised products common at garden centres and big-box retailers, it's not a subtle difference — it's a different category of product entirely. 3mm holds its round without pegging, shrugs off mulch pressure, and won't flex when something leans on it.
In short: zero painting, zero maintenance, a finish that ages gracefully into a stable matte grey, and built from Australian steel by an Australian manufacturer. For a silver finish that has to live in the ground in Australian conditions, there genuinely isn't a better choice.

These flat rates reflect the reality of shipping a heavy, quality product. 3mm steel is dense — a full pallet is substantial freight. We're able to offer these rates through volume, and we think they're genuinely competitive for what's being moved.
Smaller orders? No problem. Enter your postcode at checkout and live shipping options will display, including express delivery if you need it in a hurry.
How is it delivered? Orders are strapped and wrapped on a pallet and sent direct from our factory. Your carrier will arrive with a tail lift and pallet jack and unload it to your property — you won't need to lift a thing off the truck.
