Corten Firewood Stacker — Flat Pack

Architectural storage for something you already use every day.

A flat-pack firewood stacker, designed and manufactured in Australia from BlueScope REDCOR® Corten steel. Available in 3mm for a refined, lighter-weight piece or 6mm for a serious architectural statement built to last a lifetime.

Holds roughly ¾ cubic metre of split hardwood in the main body, with a dedicated top shelf for around 10kg of kindling — so your lighting wood isn't disappearing under the logs every time you pack the rack.

What it does well

  • Sized right. 900 × 600 × 360mm — big enough to hold a real winter's worth of wood without dominating a patio or a hearth corner
  • Indoor or outdoor. Corten is engineered for outdoor use but looks right inside too — many customers use it by a fireplace, a wood stove, or on a covered patio
  • Kindling stays separate. The top shelf keeps small-diameter wood accessible instead of buried
  • Flat-pack construction. Assembles without tools in minutes, disassembles for summer storage or next-season moves

Choosing 3mm or 6mm

Both are made from the same BlueScope REDCOR® weathering steel. The choice is about weight, presence, and intended life.

  • 3mm — lighter to move, easier to reposition seasonally, still substantially thicker than mass-market imports. The sensible choice for most customers and for anyone planning to store flat over summer.
  • 6mm — architectural. Sits as a permanent feature rather than a piece of furniture. Heavy enough that once assembled most people leave it where they put it year-round. The choice for customers who want the stacker to read as a design piece on a patio, entry, or open-plan living space.
    This option is undeniably sturdy.

Material

The stacker is fabricated from BlueScope REDCOR® — Australia's premium weathering steel, and the same material used in architectural cladding, bridges, and public sculpture.

Unlike standard steel that rusts through, REDCOR® is engineered to rust on purpose. When exposed to the elements, it develops a dense, tightly-bonded patina that actively seals the surface and stops corrosion from penetrating deeper. No paint. No coating. No maintenance. The rust is the protection — and it won't flake off like coated steel eventually does.

Choosing your finish

Your stacker ships in raw silver steel. From there, you have options:

  • Leave it outdoors for a few weeks and it develops a rich, even rust patina naturally — the classic Corten look, weather-driven and deeply consistent
  • Keep it indoors and it stays silver indefinitely, weathering only very slowly from ambient humidity. A clean industrial-finish option for interiors
  • Accelerate the patina with our Rust-Fast solution (ask us for the recipe) — takes the weeks of weather work down to a few days
  • Acid-etch for pattern — some customers create deliberate weathered patterns using sprayed solutions for a non-uniform surface finish. Happy to walk you through it if this appeals

At 350MPa tensile strength, this is high-grade structural steel — stronger than mild steel and substantially more rigid than the thin-gauge imports flooding the category.

Flat Pack Advantage

The stacker arrives flat — which matters for three reasons worth thinking about before you order.

Shipping cost. Flat-pack construction means it ships in a far smaller carton than an assembled product of this size ever could, which keeps the freight cost sensible.

Summer storage. Not everyone needs the stacker taking up patio or hearth real estate in January. Flat-pack means it disassembles in minutes and stows flat against a wall, in a shed, or in a garage until the weather turns.

Tool-less assembly. Assembles in minutes without tools — the pieces slot and bolt together with hardware supplied. If you've assembled flat-pack furniture before, this is substantially easier.

Who are we?

We're a small Australian manufacturer based in Somersby, NSW. We make things out of steel because steel, done properly, outlives almost everything else in a garden or a home.

Our frustration with the firewood stacker category was the same frustration that started a lot of our products — the market is flooded with foreign-made, thin-gauge, poorly-constructed pieces that look acceptable on day one and start falling apart by the second winter. We don't go there.

Every stacker we ship is made here, from Australian BlueScope steel, by our team.

When you buy from us, the money stays in Australia. It funds Australian jobs, Australian materials, and Australian-made products built to a quality standard rather than a price point.
Buy once. Use it for decades. Keep the manufacturing here.
