6mm Corten Firewood Storage Ring — Round Base
A firewood store that's actually a piece of architecture.
A rolled firewood storage ring, designed and manufactured in Australia from BlueScope REDCOR® Corten steel. Entirely 6mm thick — band and base — so there's nothing token about it. This is the round-base model: the rolled ring sits on a fully-circular rolled footing, for a clean, continuous form with no corners to break the line.
Load it from the top, stack your split hardwood vertically, and let the open form do the rest. The ring holds the stack tidy and upright while air moves freely through the top and around the wood — which is exactly what seasoned firewood wants.
What it does well
- Genuinely 6mm throughout. Not 6mm where it shows and thin everywhere else. The whole piece — rolled band and rolled base — is full-thickness plate.
- Open-top airflow. Wood breathes. Stacked vertically in the ring, split hardwood keeps drying rather than sweating in a sealed box.
- Reads as a feature, not a utility. A pure circular form on a circular base sits as a sculptural object on a patio, by an entry, or beside a hearth — not a thing you hide.
- Round base vs square. This round-base version is all curves — a softer, fully-circular footprint with no hard edges. (Prefer a more structured, grounded stance? We make a square-base version of the same ring.)
Choosing your diameter
Both diameters are the same 360mm tall and the same full 6mm plate — the choice is purely how much wood you want to hold and how much floor it takes.
- 770mm — the everyday size. Holds a solid amount of split wood without dominating a patio corner or hearth space.
- 960mm — the larger store. More capacity for a serious winter or a bigger room, and a stronger visual anchor as a standalone feature.

Material
The ring is fabricated from BlueScope REDCOR® — Australia's premium weathering steel, and the same material used in architectural cladding, bridges, and public sculpture.
Unlike standard steel that rusts through, REDCOR® is engineered to rust on purpose. Exposed to the elements, it develops a dense, tightly-bonded patina that seals the surface and stops corrosion penetrating deeper. No paint. No coating. No maintenance. The rust is the protection — and it won't flake off like coated steel eventually does.
Choosing your finish
Your ring ships in raw silver steel. From there, you have options:
- Leave it outdoors for a few weeks and it develops a rich, even rust patina naturally — the classic Corten look, weather-driven and deeply consistent
- Keep it indoors and it stays silver indefinitely, weathering only very slowly from ambient humidity — a clean industrial finish for interiors
- Accelerate the patina with our Rust-Fast solution (ask us for the recipe) — takes the weeks of weather work down to a few days
At 350MPa tensile strength, this is high-grade structural steel — stronger and far more rigid than the thin-gauge imports flooding the category. In 6mm, it's about as far from flimsy as firewood storage gets.
Why 6mm?
Most firewood storage is thin folded sheet built to a price — it looks fine on day one and starts bowing or rusting through by the second winter. We didn't want to make that.
At 6mm, this ring is heavy, rigid, and permanent. It won't dent when you drop a log against it, it won't distort under a full load, and it isn't going anywhere once it's placed. That weight is the point — but it's worth knowing up front: this is a piece you position once and leave, not something you'll be shifting around the patio on a whim.
Who are we?
We're a small Australian manufacturer based in Somersby, NSW. We make things out of steel because steel, done properly, outlives almost everything else in a garden or a home.
Our frustration with the firewood stacker category was the same frustration that started a lot of our products — the market is flooded with foreign-made, thin-gauge, poorly-constructed pieces that look acceptable on day one and start falling apart by the second winter. We don't go there.
Every stacker we ship is made here, from Australian BlueScope steel, by our team.
When you buy from us, the money stays in Australia. It funds Australian jobs, Australian materials, and Australian-made products built to a quality standard rather than a price point.
Buy once. Use it for decades. Keep the manufacturing here.
