3mm LazyEdge — Tool-Less Garden Edging | Corten (Rusty)
- 3mm Australian BlueScope REDCOR Steel
- Tool-less install — no screws, rivets, or drilling
- 6+ years, zero returns
- Bundle packs available Here
LazyEdge is our original tool-less edging system. We pre-fold every joiner and peg so installation is straightforward — no tools, no fuss.
Joiners come in two styles:
- Straight — connects two lengths end to end
- Corner — 90° or 45° internal and external, with custom angles available on request
Every component — lengths, joiners, and pegs — is made from 3mm Australian BlueScope REDCOR steel. All parts are laser cut for a burr-free finish and CNC folded for precision. Each joiner has an integrated peg built in, so there are no loose parts to misplace.
The joiners aren't just functional — they're designed to be a visible feature. Once installed, they create a clean, attractive detail on the face of the edging. LazyEdge suits classic and contemporary gardens alike, and as the steel weathers, everything settles into a cohesive, timeless finish.
We've been manufacturing this system in Australia for over six years. We've seen competitors imitate it — usually in 1.6mm steel. We won't go there. Every part we make comes from Australian material, made here, and held to the same standard it always has been. Six years of sales. Not a single return.
Need help planning your project? Send us your plan and we'll calculate the lengths, joiners, and pegs needed — and send through a complete invoice. Our bundle packs (24, 48, 72 & 96m) include all pegs and joiners at a discounted rate.
Ships Australia-wide, direct from our factory.
Note: Parts are dispatched with a raw silver finish. Within a few weeks, a rich, even rust patina will develop naturally.
How do I measure up?
How to Measure
1. Lengths
Measure the total run of your garden beds and add everything together to get your lineal metre requirement. Divide that number by 2.4 (the length of each edging piece) to find how many lengths you need — and always round up. Example: 30m ÷ 2.4 = 12.5 → order 13 lengths
2. Joiners Straight Joiners
connect two lengths end to end. You'll always need one fewer joiner than the number of lengths — so 10 lengths = 9 straight joiners.
Corner Joiners (90° or 45°) are for direction changes. An easy way to tell which you need: stand at the corner.
- If the edging runs away from you in both directions → Outside Corner
If the edging comes toward you from both directions → Inside Corner
3. Pegs
Pegs give you a clean start or finish where edging meets a wall, fence, or hard surface. As a general rule, one peg in the middle of each 2.4m length is good practice. Note that our joiners already have an integrated peg — and because our steel is 3mm thick, additional pegs are rarely needed. Simply drive the edging at least 5mm into the soil. Extra pegs may be helpful for complex shapes or curves.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it be used for curved garden beds?
Absolutely. Simply join your lengths together with straight joiners and bend them into shape as you go. LazyEdge is actually one of the easiest edging systems to use for curves.
What about circles — like around a tree?
Circles work well. Secure one end, then curve the edging around while pegging as you go to hold the shape. Once you're happy with the radius, drive the edge into the ground and remove any temporary pegs. For circles under 1.5m in diameter, check out our pre-rolled tree rings Here.
Do I need pegs if I'm using joiners?
Not necessarily — every joiner has a peg built in, and the rigidity of 3mm steel means the edging holds its position without additional pegs in most situations. That said, our recommendation remains of one peg per 2.4m length, placed in the middle, many customers still pick up a few extra pegs for end pieces or particularly curvy sections.
How fast is it to install?
Very. The joiner sleeves over the cut ends of each length, so you don't need a perfectly straight cut — just cut it and slide it in. From there, use a rubber mallet to drive the peg-integrated joiners into the ground, then work your way along tapping the top of the edging down to give it that clean, rising-from-the-earth look. It's a straightforward, satisfying install.
Material
Material — BlueScope REDCOR® Weathering Steel
LazyEdge is manufactured from 3mm BlueScope REDCOR® — Australia's premium weathering steel, and the same material used in architectural cladding, bridges, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
Unlike standard mild steel that rusts through, REDCOR® is engineered to rust on purpose. When exposed to the elements, it develops a dense, tightly bonded patina that actively seals the surface and stops corrosion from penetrating deeper. No paint. No coating. No maintenance. The rust is the protection.
The result is a rich, warm, earthy tone that deepens and evolves over time — blending naturally into garden environments in a way that painted or galvanised alternatives simply can't replicate.
Strength
REDCOR® is a higher-tensile steel — the upper end of what's available in this product category.
At 3mm thick, this gives LazyEdge a rigidity and weight that you'll feel the moment you pick it up. Compared to the 1.6mm products common in the market, it's not a subtle difference — it's night and day.
In short: it gets stronger and better looking with age, requires zero upkeep, and is built from Australian steel by an Australian manufacturer. There's genuinely nothing better suited to a product that lives in the ground, year-round, in Australian conditions.

Product Dimensions
Length: 2400mm (2.4m) per strip
Height: 60mm / 80mm / 118mm / 190mm / 300mm
Thickness: 3mm — consistent across every height option. Thinner steel will rust through over time and simply won't hold its shape under ground pressure. 3mm is the gold standard.

These flat rates reflect the reality of shipping a heavy, quality product. 3mm steel is dense — a full pallet is substantial freight. We're able to offer these rates through volume, and we think they're genuinely competitive for what's being moved.
Smaller orders? No problem. Enter your postcode at checkout and live shipping options will display, including express delivery if you need it in a hurry.
How is it delivered? Orders are strapped and wrapped on a pallet and sent direct from our factory. Your carrier will arrive with a tail lift and pallet jack and unload it to your property — you won't need to lift a thing off the truck.

Steel Product & Safety
Safety
Steel edging is a wonderful addition to any garden — and like any solid building material, it deserves a little thought around safety, particularly in households with young children or pets.
Design intent: LazyEdge is designed to sit visibly above ground, creating a clear, defined barrier that people and animals can easily see and navigate around. A visible edge is a safe edge.
Sharp edges: During manufacturing, cut steel edges can be sharp. While the weathering process naturally softens these over time, we recommend running a flap-disc grinding wheel along any exposed cut edges before installation — it takes minutes and makes a meaningful difference.
Burial use: If you're planning to bury the edging as an underground divider rather than a visible border, this product isn't the right fit for that application. We'd recommend looking at our 6mm Lengths or Infinity Rolled-Top Edging instead — both are purpose-built for in-ground use.
We're a small family business. Between us we have young children running around gardens just like yours, and safety is something we think about in every product we make. We want your finished garden to be something your whole family can enjoy safely for years to come.
