What height do I actually need?

Height is the decision people get wrong. It's set by how much you're holding back, not by budget.

  • 60mm Lawn and path edges. Keeps mulch off paving.$16.63/m
  • 80mm A deeper mulch line without much soil behind it.$19.21/m
  • 118mm Holds a real mulch or soil level against a lawn.$28.71/m
    Where most land
  • 190mm Raised beds, or a step between two levels.$38.92/m
  • 300mm A Statement. Retaining a genuine change in level.$53.88

Before you buy anything rusty

"Rusty" is a look. It isn't a spec.

Weathering steel rusts to a point and then largely stops — the patina seals what's underneath. Mild steel just rusts, and keeps going. In a listing photo at week one they look identical. At year ten, only one of them is still holding your garden bed.

One question settles it: does the listing tell you the thickness and the steel grade? If it doesn't, that's your answer.

Product Information

2mm LazyEdge — Tool-Less Garden Edging | Corten (Rusty)

  • 2mm Australian BlueScope REDCOR Steel
  • Tool-less install — no screws, rivets, or drilling
  • 6+ years, zero returns
  • Bundle packs available [Here]

LazyEdge is our original tool-less edging system. We pre-fold every joiner and peg so installation is straightforward — no tools, no fuss.

Joiners come in two styles:

  • Straight — connects two lengths end to end
  • Corner — 90° or 45° internal and external, with custom angles available on request

Same system. Same quality. A more accessible price point.

We'll be straight with you: we recommend our 3mm LazyEdge as the superior long-term product. The extra thickness delivers greater rigidity, more weight in the ground, and an even longer service life. If budget allows, it's worth it.

But we're also realists. Not every project calls for the premium option — and not every budget stretches to it. Rental properties, temporary garden layouts, or simply a project where cost needs to be managed — this is exactly what the 2mm range is for.

Every component is still made from Australian BlueScope REDCOR® Corten steel. The system is identical — the same tool-less joiner design, the same laser-cut burr-free finish, the same CNC folded precision, the same integrated peg in every joiner. The only difference is the thickness. At 2mm, it's still a genuinely good product and miles ahead of the 1.6mm material you'll find elsewhere on the market.

The joiners remain a visible feature on the face of the edging — clean, attractive, and designed to be seen rather than hidden. LazyEdge suits classic and contemporary gardens alike, and as the steel weathers, everything settles into a cohesive, timeless finish.

Need help planning your project? Send us your plan and we'll calculate the lengths, joiners, and pegs needed — and send through a complete invoice. Our bundle packs (24, 48, 72 & 96m) include all pegs and joiners at a discounted rate.

Ships Australia-wide, direct from our factory.

Note: Parts are dispatched with a raw silver finish. Within a few weeks, a rich, even rust patina will develop naturally.

How do I measure up?

  1. Grab your Tape measure
Measure up the length of your garden beds, add all of these measurements together and you will have your Total Lineal Meter requirement.
Then divide this total number by 2.4 (The length of our edging pieces).
Eg. 30-meters divided by 2.4 = 12.5 lengths required (we would recommend rounding up to 13)
  2. Joiners - Straight, Outside Corner, Inside Corner.. Confused? Don't be.
Straight Joiners; If you have 10 x 2.4m lengths you would need 9 x straight joiners . It is always -1 of your total edging lengths
Outside or Inside Corner Joiners; If you need a crisp 90° corner these are perfect, picture yourself standing at your corner, if the edging is running away from you in both directions you need an Outside corner. If you are standing at that corner and the edging is coming back towards you, then you need an inside corner.
  3. Pegs
These are a great way to start & finish your edging if it runs into a wall or fence etc. Our 3mm pegs give you a clean finish in this situation.
If using our joiners, these have a peg attached. As our product is so thick we have found pegs in between are not necessary for most applications. Simply hit the edging in at least 5mm into the soil to hold the edge, in some cases pegs may be required for complex shapes or curves.
  4. After order support!
If you order edging from us and start your project and realise you didn't buy enough pegs or joiners, simply call or send us an email.
You pay for the additional joiners or pegs and we will pay for the freight - Free

Still confused? Scribble your plan onto a piece of paper, take a photo - We LOVE pictures of your scribbles & your spaces (truly, we could be a little strange).
Hit the Contact-Us button and attach your picture and we will help you work out your requirements, we can email you a quote, all inclusive - You just need to make payment by clicking the link and a few days later a truck arrives with your pallet of edging, ready for installation!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this be flexed into curved garden beds?

Yes, with our straight joiners, you simply join the lengths together and shape your garden to your hearts content.

What about around a tree? a circle?
Yes, circles are possible - In this situation we simply recommend the use of our pegs, secure an end and start curving whilst hammering pegs in to keep it in place. After you have created your radius, you can hit the edge into the ground and remove excess pegs.
For a circle under 1.5 meter diameter, please have a look at our pre-rolled tree rings Here

Do I need pegs if I buy your Joiners?
Yes, for the 2mm Edging we recommend a Peg placement for every length of 2mm edging placed. If creating curves, these pegs are invaluable to make the install process very easy.
We have found over time, the edging settles into the soil and will hold - at this point you can remove the pegs to produce a clean seamless look.
All of the joiners also have a Peg built into the component, simply sleeve in the edging and mallet into the ground.

How fast is this to install?
This system is unmatched in how long the installation takes. All cut edges are hidden behind the joiner, this means you can focus on cutting it - Not on how straight you are cutting it!
Sleeve the pieces into the joiners and with a rubber mallet you can hit the joiners (which come with a peg attached) into the ground. After this is done, because of the strength of our 3mm product you can simply go around and hit the top of the edging to sink the bottom edge in to help give it that rising from the earth look.

Material

Material — BlueScope REDCOR® Weathering Steel

LazyEdge-2mm is manufactured from 2mm BlueScope REDCOR® — Australia's premium weathering steel, and the same material used in architectural cladding, bridges, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Unlike standard mild steel that rusts through, REDCOR® is engineered to rust on purpose. When exposed to the elements, it develops a dense, tightly bonded patina that actively seals the surface and stops corrosion from penetrating deeper. No paint. No coating. No maintenance. The rust is the protection.

The result is a rich, warm, earthy tone that deepens and evolves over time — blending naturally into garden environments in a way that painted or galvanised alternatives simply can't replicate.

Strength
REDCOR® is a higher-tensile steel — the upper end of what's available in this product category.

At 2mm thick, this gives LazyEdge a rigidity and weight that you'll feel the moment you pick it up. Compared to the 1.6mm products common in the market, it's not a subtle difference — it's night and day.

In short: it gets stronger and better looking with age, requires zero upkeep, and is built from Australian steel by an Australian manufacturer. There's genuinely nothing better suited to a product that lives in the ground, year-round, in Australian conditions.

Dimensions

Product Dimensions

Length: 2400mm (2.4m) per strip

Height: 100mm

Thickness: 2mm —  Thinner steel will rust through over time and simply won't hold its shape under ground pressure. Whilst 3mm is the gold standard. 2mm is a great option for some projects or when a strict budget must be adhered to. We still stand behind this product, or we wouldnt sell it. In comparison to other 2mm joined systems, ours is still the best with our joiners holding the top AND bottom of your edging so its truly secure and safe.

Steel Product & Safety

Safety

Steel edging is a wonderful addition to any garden — and like any solid building material, it deserves a little thought around safety, particularly in households with young children or pets.

Design intent: LazyEdge is designed to sit visibly above ground, creating a clear, defined barrier that people and animals can easily see and navigate around. A visible edge is a safe edge.

Sharp edges: During manufacturing, cut steel edges can be sharp. While the weathering process naturally softens these over time, we recommend running a flap-disc grinding wheel along any exposed cut edges before installation — it takes minutes and makes a meaningful difference.

Burial use: If you're planning to bury the edging as an underground divider rather than a visible border, this product isn't the right fit for that application. We'd recommend looking at our 6mm Lengths or Infinity Rolled-Top Edging instead — both are purpose-built for in-ground use.

We're a small family business. Between us we have young children running around gardens just like yours, and safety is something we think about in every product we make. We want your finished garden to be something your whole family can enjoy safely for years to come.

If you have any questions about safe installation, please don't hesitate to give us a call on 1800-943-733.
